The School's History

Founded in the year 2000 by the late Mrs. Mary W. Mburu, the School started from humble beginnings as a Christian private school, mixed day and boarding with 19 pupils i.e. 18 in primary section and 1 in kindergarten section. The pioneer class did their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in the year 2002 and scored a mean grade of 362. The school progressed in size and performance for example in 2006 the school mean grade shot to 370 with the first candidate being 2^nd in the former central region.

JSPS has consistently produced the top candidates in Thika West every year in national examinations. This is a manifestation of the quality of teaching staff, a dedicated administration and the exceptional pupils joining the school each year. The school offers the 8-4- 4 curriculum which emphasizes on a holistic preparation of a pupil.

To-date the school has moved a niche higher due to success and demand; we have expanded opportunities to have a full-fledged kindergarten solely running by itself separate from the primary section.

JSPS is the best school in Kiambu County. We are committed to raising all round children. We believe in exposing our children to not only academic activities but also co-curriculum activities.We are child-centered in our teaching and encourage our children to be independent and self- motivated. Our staff is qualified and committed to our vision and mission. The school is located on a 10-acre piece of land in a serene environment which is safe and conducive for learning. There are two big fields, one for kindergarten and the other one for the primary section.

TEACHER – PUPIL RELATIONSHIP

Our belief is that success can only be achieved when the 3 points work together. Teacher, Parent and Pupil. Our parents reinforce teachers’ efforts through guidance counseling and follow up activities.

There is continued communication between parents and teachers through the school diary. Our school is open to the parent any time of the day for discussions and consultation with the teachers.

TEACHER – PUPIL RELATIONSHIP

Our teachers believe in instilling self-discipline and drive in pupils. Our teachers direct and supervise pupil’s activities and create a rapport with the pupils so that they are free to approach them and in turn the teachers listen to them and encourage them to speak their mind.

Our parents take it upon themselves to enforce the culture instilled at school. It is not uncommon for a JSPS pupil or alumni to stand out in a crowd in forums, other institutions, places of worship, estates and even internationally.

Our culture is simple, develop a love for learning while still retaining the innocence of being a child, compete fairly and practice good sportsmanship. This spans in all areas of our operations.
